Status of Early Care and Education in the States, The

Women have entered the labor force in unprecedented numbers, and the majority of mothers now work outside the home. These massive shifts in our nation's work and family lives have created an unmet need for quality, affordable early care and education. This report by the Institute for Women's Policy Research seeks to provide a snapshot of the need for and availability of quality early care and education in the States.
