About the Advisory Committees
A participatory research project, the Status of Women in the States is produced by IWPR in conjunction with state advisory committees, comprised of state and local leaders in women’s issues. Playing a crucial role, these advisory committees:
  • Review their state’s report
  • Take charge of publicity and dissemination efforts in the state
  • Spearhead policy advocacy after release of the reports, using the reports to further specific policy agendas
  • Build coalitions with other advocates in the states

For more details on the success of the advisory committees’ work in promoting policy change, see our Models for Action: Making Research Work for Women.

State Advisory Committe Chairs Luncheon
Judith Sutphen, Vermont Advisory Chair, and other Chairs discuss the impact of the reports over lunch at IWPR's Sixth Women's Policy Research Conference, June 8, 2001.
