"According to economist Heidi Hartmann, President of the Washington-based Institute for Women’s Policy Research, if the gender wage gap were eliminated today, the stimulus effect would grow the U.S. economy by at least 3 to 4 percent. To put that in perspective, the $800 billion economic stimulus package that Congress passed in 2009 is estimated to have grown the GDP by less than 1.5 percent overall."
