Social Security Benefits Black Women

More than one in four black women aged 75 and older lives in poverty. However, an IWPR fact sheet shows that without Social Security benefits, six out of ten black women aged 75 and older would have incomes below the poverty line. Twenty-six percent of black women who are Social Security beneficiaries receive disability benefits, compared with 14 percent of all adult women. |
